Leveraging our knowledge and connections within our community, we are about to make the greatest impact through our Nikau Community Fund.
Regional Funds
Our Regional Funds ensure a community-led approach to philanthropy. A committed team of volunteers in each region works to support our grant-making.
Organisational Funds
Through our Organisational Funds, we work with local community organisations to ensure the causes we hold dear in our hearts are preserved for future generations.
Forever Funds
Our Forever Funds have been set up by individuals and families to provide everlasting support for the people and places they care about most.

Nikau is the Te Upoko-o-te-Ika-a-Maui the Greater Wellington Region’s Community Foundation; the first of now 17 community foundations working to effect positive change in their respective regions throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
Rather than a traditional not-for-profit, Community Foundations invest all donations to build reliable funding to support their local communities, forever. The invested model means your generosity will have benefits, forever.

Our Impact in 2023
2023 transformative for Nikau in so many ways. As an organisation, we have welcomed new donors, delivered almost $1.2 million in funding to support the people and places of our region, committed nine new funds that will give back long into the future and worked alongside two iconic Wellington sites to establish legacies so they can be visited, admired and enjoyed for generations to come.
