The Kris Fielding –We can! Fund
The Kris Fielding – We Can! Fund was set up by Alan Fielding in memory of his son Kristopher – known as Kris. Kris was born with Spina Bifida in 1968 and sadly passed away just before his 27th birthday in 1995.
Kris firmly believed that everyone has the ability to make something of their lives and contribute to society if only they are given a bit of support and encouragement. A big fan of the CCS bumper stickers – We Can! – they exemplified this approach to life, not wanting his disability to stop him from achieving his goals.
The Fund has been set up to honour Kris’ life and to give other people a better and more secure future. It aims to support individuals that are living with a ‘diffability’ by providing educational support to enable them to succeed.
Kris had a great sense of humour and relished learning the arts and science at school. He enjoyed his role working in the Registry of Artefacts at Te Manawa Museum Complex in Palmerston North and was a well-loved colleague, friend and son.
