Driving local generosity to local causes
Te Ara Moana | Programme costs
Te Ara Moana use the sea to support young people build confidence, teach practical skills and improve their emotional resilience. Offering a safe place for new experiences, Te Ara Moana works hard to create an environment where students are supported and encouraged in their learning. Through their programmes, young people develop water survival, problem-solving and how to make responsible decisions to get the best outcomes.
With a grant of $5,000, 32 young people embarked on a holistic course to promote and get a better understanding of wellbeing. Taking a tailored approach, Te Ara Moana work closely with school principals to plan their courses so they suit the needs of their young people. Using the sea as their classroom, it is hoped that the skills they learn during the programme will be with them for life.
We are grateful to the Blake fund which helped make this grant possible.
